Called to Action

From The Commander of the 299th 

The 299th has again been called to serve in the defense of this nation in the global war on terrorism.  I ask that you forward this note to all past Proven Pioneers and let them know.  The soldiers in this battalion are trained and ready for any task given to them.  They have proven it time after time, and once again, they will uphold all the traditions and honor that you all began.
     Taking this battalion to combat was not something I expected, although when I took this prestigious job, I knew it was possible.  In the coming weeks, we will move overseas to a location not yet released. I ask that when you hear the news of anything within the 4th Infantry Division, Proven Pioneers are there, serving on our front line. 
      It is not known when we will return, but please remember, we will remember the roots, traditions and history that you made for us. Also remember that these magnificent troopers will be writing the next chapter in the history of the 299th Engineers. Keep them in your prayers and God Bless.
